Shelton State Community College President Named

State education officials have named a new president for Shelton State Community College.
The Tuscaloosa News reports that the Alabama Board of Education on Wednesday approved Alabama Community College System Chancellor Mark Heinrich’s appointment of Andrea Scott Mayfield to take the helm at the school in Tuscaloosa. Mayfield is set to assume her new role July 1.
Mayfield is currently vice president at the Scooba, Mississippi, campus of the East Mississippi Community College. She was one of four finalists for the Shelton State position.
She has a doctorate from Mississippi State University in educational leadership with an emphasis in the administration of higher education. She also holds a bachelor of science and master of arts in teaching degrees in biological sciences from Livingston University/the University of West Alabama.
