Police Chief Kevin Murphy Confirms He is Retiring from MPD

Answers about the future of Montgomery’s Police Chief Kevin Murphy are now being revealed.
Murphy was awarded Officer of the Year by the Huntsville American Legion this morning.
He told the crowd in his acceptance that he is retiring from law enforcement after nearly 30 years of service.
Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange tells us he and Chief Murphy plan to issue a joint statement Monday morning at 11 o’clock.
The mayor says he received a letter on behalf of the chief and they are in continuing talks.
Murphy has been on administrative leave since the death of his twin brother earlier this month.
Murphy has been on the police force for 28 years. He’s been chief since 2011.
