National Media Descends On Hyundai Plant

Montgomery’s Hyundai Plant is launching the new 2015 Sonata in a big way.
Â
Media from across the country are here to test drive the car across the state of Alabama.
Â
This is the first time that the Hyundai plant has had so much national media attention. And they’re all here to review the new 2015 Sonatas.Â
Â
When all is said and done, about 120 of the top auto writers from magazines to TV, will come to see the new car and what exactly Alabama has to offer the auto world.Â
Â
Robert Burns with the plant says this is the first time they’ve done anything like this.
Â
“We’ve done smaller events with the regional media but this is the first time we’ve really had the national US media launch for a new vehicle. So we have motortrend, we have car and driver, we have cars.com,” said Burns.Â
Â
Members of the media arrived at the plant and got a look at what makes the new model different. Then they got a tour of the entire facillity, watching exactly how the new car gets made.
Â
For some, this is a first trip to the state.Â
Â
“I’ve been all over the country. Texas, California, even out east as well. This is my first time in Alabama so it’s kind of nice and it’s my first time here at the Hyundai plant. I’m just really looking forward to driving the new Sonata,” said Seamus McElroy with Autoline.
Â
Others didn’t even have to make it into the plant to be impressed by the South’s auto industry.Â
Â
“It looks like they’ve got a really impressive operation. On the way from Atlanta we drove by the West Point plant which is right on the border with Alabama over in Georgia. That looked like an impressive facility and this one looks impressive too. One of the newest plants in the world with all the latest advancements here in Alabama,” said Michael Karesh with TrueDelta.com.
Â
Burns says that there’s a lot of opportunity with having so many here for the new car.
Â
“It’s kind of two fold, obviously seeing the 2015 sonata, but the other element is exposing these journalists to Montgomery and Central Alabama. See what the atmosphere here is. We’ve been having events downtown in the Alley Bar area and the Renaissance Hotel.”
Â
Members of the media will be coming through the plant all through the rest of the week. We’ll see their reviews of the sonata and Alabama next week.
