Tallapoosa Co. Commission Raises Sales Tax to Help Schools
The Tallapoosa County Commission has just approved raising the sales tax to help fund the county’s schools.
The sales tax will be raised by one cent on the dollar.Â
County leaders say nearly all of the school campuses need major upgrades, from new bathrooms to heating and cooling systems. School leaders say the school’s online networks also need upgrades.
The one-cent hike is estimated to be able to raise about $1.2 million a year.Â
