As the 2015 legislative session draws to a close, there are several bills introduced this session that don’t look like they will make the cut.

Some of them include the gambling bill, medical marijuana, and repealing common core.

Senator Vivian Davis Figures says she was happy that the repeal on common core did not pass.

“I see it as a victory not to have passed. The bill that was set out to repeal common core standards. I think it’s a wonderful thing that we have common core standards,” said Figures.

Senator Dick Brewbaker says repealing common core will most likely come up again.

“I think there are probably 20 senators that would like to have a vote on that. That’s obviously not going to happen this go round. But I think sooner or later it will happen because its not going away until there is a vote,” said Sen. Brewbaker.

Even though these bills didn’t make it in the general session, they could come back up in the special called session this summer.
