While the legislature still hasn’t been able to come up with a way to balance the budget,

one senator is taking matters into his own hands.

Senator Paul Sanford out of Huntsville set up a “Go Fund Me” account to help fund the state government.
His goal is 300 million dollars.
He is asking the public to donate what they can.
While Sanford says it was all to prove a point about raising taxes, we got mixed reactions about it.

Brandon Chadwick, says, “You know, that’s a lot of money. And we are already paying taxes. A lot of people would be upset with it I’m sure. Maybe not though, could be wrong.”

Sam Adams says he supports the ideal.

“If you can contribute and help our state, you should do so. A lot of people think we pay too many taxes already and we pay a lot of taxes, but we’re also a society and we need to work together,” said Adams.

Sanford says all money raised will go to the General Fund.
