Faulkner University students, faculty and staff spend some time outside of the classroom today for a lesson devoted to giving back.

This is the first year faculty, staff and students all came together for the day of service. About 450 people participated and they hope to make it an annual event. Faulkner volunteers went to nine locations to help out across the River Region. They did everything from work on a home, to stocking a food pantry.

Christian Smith, Faulkner University Junior said, “I am able to be at school there but sometimes I’m not able to get out and see what Montgomery’s about. So, this right here is a surreal chance to be able to help out and give back to Montgomery.”

This is wrapping up a week long project called Devoted 24/7, meant to kick off the school year at Faulkner. Faulkner’s hosted devotionals, events and community service.
