Avocado Carrying Semi-Truck Overturns, Closes Lane of I-85 North
A single-vehicle accident caused headaches through most of the day on I-85 northbound today.
State troopers say an 18-wheeler carrying 40,000 pounds of avocados overturned on the interstate just before 5:00am Saturday morning. The driver was treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries.
Troopers had to shut down one lane of the interstate while the avocados were loaded onto another truck, and for the scene of the accident to be cleaned.
The lane was re-opened around 7:00pm Saturday evening.
