The race for Montgomery Mayor has already been decided — not at the polls, but on the race track.
The mayoral cadidates came together on the go-kart track for a little bit of fun before the election, all for a good cause. The race benefited the non-profit group That’s My Child. Almost every candidate was there and chose a child to represent them on the track.
“This is a great stepping stone to get the word out there,” says Charles Lee, who runs the non-profit, “also [to] help with some funds to show that we are all one city. We are all here together working to make a better Montgomery. A night with no debate, just all smiles and hugs.”
All of the money raised in Sunday’s event will go towards construction on a new building for That’s My Child.
Who won the race? Ella Bell’s driver came out on top. Todd Strange’s driver came in second.
The Montgomery mayoral election will be held Tuesday, August 25th.
