Political Analyst Steve Flowers was on Alabama News Network at 6:00 with reaction to the news that Alabama First Lady Dianne Bentley is seeking a divorce from Gov. Robert Bentley.
Flowers said he had known that the Bentleys had separated, which hadn’t been publicly revealed before the divorce papers were filed. He says that although Mrs. Bentley was born and raised in Montgomery, she didn’t like the political spotlight and he expects her to return to her adult hometown of Tuscaloosa.
Flowers also discussed how the pending divorce might affect Gov. Bentley’s remaining time in office. Even though he can’t seek another term after this one expires in 2019, he thinks this distraction might make him more of a lame duck than he already is.
