NAMI Hosts 5K Walk For Mental Illness Awareness

October is Mental Health Month, and one local group pounded the pavement Saturday to raise money for those in Alabama suffering from mental illness.

The Alabama chapter of the National Alliance of Mental Illness hosted a 5K walk at Blount Cultural Park in Montgomery. Around 200 people came out to walk to raise awareness and funding for mental health treatment.

The group has already reached it’s goal of raising $50,000 this year, but it’s working to raise even more to help provide support to those who need it.
