Tea Party Candidate from Wetumpka Challenging U.S. Rep. Martha Roby
A Tea Party leader is opposing Republican Rep. Martha Roby for Congress in Alabama’s 2nd District.
Wetumpka Tea Party President Becky Gerritson announced her candidacy Thursday.
Gerritson says Roby has aligned herself with the Washington establishment and “failed politicians” since joining Congress.
Roby issued a statement in response touting her conservative credentials.
Roby is a former Montgomery City Council member currently in her third two-year term in Congress. She’s up for re-election next year.
