The heavy rainfall has caused damage to a number of roads, making it difficult for drivers trying to get home. Crews are working around the clock on Dozier Road in Montgomery County. The road was repaved two weeks ago, and with the road not completely finished, it caused some concern for Maintenance crews.
Officials say the street consumed over six feet of water. People who live in Wetumpka pay a toll to use Dozier Road to enter Montgomery, officials say the closing has caused issues with drivers, But they say it’s important for drivers to understand that right now it’s all about safety.

“In the past we’ve had problems with people thinking well we can get around it to get to my house, so we would just ask the people to observe the barricades and know if the roads closed it’s impassable,” says Andrew Hall, District five Montgomery County Commissioner.

County Officials say the total cost of damages from Dozier Road is close to 50 thousand dollars. Alabama News Network will let you know when the road will reopen.
