Heavy Rain Causes Issues for Busy Prattville Street

The wet weather is causing problems for some drivers. One of the  of Prattville’s busiest roads will have to be fixed because of a rutted out culvert.

Drivers are turning around one by one on McQueen Smith Road, and it’s all due to the mess mother nature left behind. While some are thankful they were able to avoid the nightmare, the culvert is a bit of a headache for Prattville engineers.

“McQueen Smith Road is one of our major roads. With people going to work, going to school, it goes through the 31 and 82 from Maxwell traffic to Montgomery traffic,” says Mark Thompson, Prattville Police Chief.

Police say there are alternative routes for drivers. If you’re trying to go get to highway 82 take memorial drive, or take Cobbs-Ford Road and cut though on 82 bypass. Alabama News Network will let you know when McQueen Smith road will reopen.
