Last month severe storms and flooding affected thousands across Alabama and now President Obama has signed a federal disaster declaration for several Alabama counties.
Also included in the funding are tribal and certain private nonprofit organizations.
Elmore County EMA Director Eric Jones says he’s working right now to make sure everyone eligible is aware of the process. He says those funds will allow those affected to recover without going into their general fund money.
Funding will also help water authorities impacted without exhausting their current funds.
“That would end up causing us hardship and trying to push forward on projects and programs that we already had slated and this will help the county and the jurisdictions and the city of Wetumpka,” says Elmore County Director Eric Jones.
