Boarded windows, caved in roofs, and burned buildings- imagine if that’s what your neighborhood looked like. For some people in Montgomery, that’s what they wake up to every day.

In the Chisholm area there are many dilapidated homes. City leaders say if you have an eyesore in your neighborhood, call 311.
They will send out an inspector and then the due process will begin to get this thing torn down. They have to reach out to the property owner which can take a long time and that’s frustrating for many people in the area.

Jo Rambo, Manager Harrell’s Appliance said, “I just compare it to downtown, they have a lot of business downtown because they prettied it up. You know so we are not asking for a whole lot, we just want it to be a little cleaner looking.”

The process to tear down an eyesore can be lengthy because often the property owners live out of state and are hard to track down.
