Alabama Police Officer Charged with Sodomy Resigns

Authorities say a Rainbow City police officer has resigned after he was jailed on a felony charge of first-degree sodomy.

Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin said in a news release Monday that 45-year-old Capt. David Chase Jenkins was arrested Saturday. He said the crime occurred while Jenkins was off-duty.

Rainbow City Police Chief Greg Carroll said that Jenkins resigned from the police force following his arrest.

Jenkins was being held at the Etowah County jail without bond Monday. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
