We have a follow up on a story we brought you last week. People who live in Wetumpka say they’re worried about a suspicious man taking pictures in their neighborhoods, without their permission.

Wetumpka homeowner Christy Dell’Aria obtained footage of the man from her surveillance camera. She then called the police, and Alabama News Network with concerns about the man. Days later she received a Facebook message from someone claiming to be the person in the footage. We contacted Elmore County Sheriff’s Office. They told us the man works for an inspection company in Millbrook. After investigating deputies say the business is legitimate, but the way their practices are questionable.

“The antics that they used, I don’t think they had any malicious intent whatsoever, but the way it was perceived by the public, I can see why some people were alarmed,” said Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin.

We reached out to a number of mortgage companies who told us when it comes to inspectors they notify their clients ahead of time. Authorities say if someone comes to your door claiming to be an inspector without notifying you first call police.
