ANN STREET IMPROVE

Some changes are coming to the busy intersection at Ann Street and the interstate.

State transportation officials say they will be expanding sidewalks, adding crosswalks and changing some traffic patterns. It’s all to make the area more pedestrian safe. It’ll be paid for with federal money. Residents say it’s about time.

Larry Grewelle, President of Midtown Montgomery Neighborhood Alliance
“I think that’s going to be a necessary thing because there’s so much traffic and people trying to get across and there’s no safe way to do it so I think this is long overdue. These kinds of projects are needed to make our city more livable, more safe to get around.”

ALDOT says the project will be bid out in June and construction should start by the end of summer.
