The funeral for the famous author of to Kill a Mockingbird was held today in Monroeville.

Harper Lee died Friday at the age of 89.

Much like most of her life, the funeral was a very private event.

A few dozen family members gathered at the First United Methodist Church to hear a eulogy from her longtime friend and history professor Wayne Flint.

Flynt read a speech from 2006 that he wrote about Lee for winning a racial justice award.

He says she liked it so much she asked him to read it as her eulogy.
