Jefferson Davis outlasts Lee in 7A Central Regional Final

The Lady Volunteers advance to the State Semifinal in Birmingham with a 51-44 win over the Lee Generals.

 

MONTGOMERY, AL— Jefferson Davis is headed to Birmingham after defeating Robert E. Lee 51-44 in the 7A Central Regional Final. The Lady Volunteers are looking to repeat the 7A state title.

Ahyiona Vason led the way for the Lady Volunteers with 20 points and  four rebounds.

Jasmine Walker went down with a knee injury in the 2nd quarter, but returned after halftime with her knee wrapped. She entered into the game in the 3rd quarter and finished with 11 points and four rebounds. Walker’s return to the game helped the Lady Volunteers pull away in the 4th.

The game was tied 33-33 at the end of the 3rd, but Jefferson Davis pulled away during the 4th quarter.

Tykeria Williams from Lee put up a great fight for the Generals, finishing with 17 points.

Jefferson Davis will play in the 7A state semi-final game against Buckhorn Thursday, March 3rd at noon.
