Hooded Man Enters Church with Gun
This story has been the buzz on social media the last couple of days, after parishioners say a man entered their church with a gun.
It happened Sunday morning at New Hope Baptist Church in Montgomery. Some church members are taking to Facebook saying they were shaken when an armed White man, wearing a hoodie entered the predominately Black church. Many people say they feared a situation like what happened in Charleston, South Carolina last June.
Our news team reached out to MPD who says the man was armed, but he asked church leaders if he could enter the church with his weapon. Police say he was denied the request and put the gun in his car before returning to the church.
Officers say the man had a valid concealed weapons permit, no threats were made, no one was arrested. Again, the male returned to the church without incident.
