New Business Hub And Free Wi-Fi Coming To Downtown Montgomery

If you’re looking for a place to get your business idea off the ground, the cottage hills community my be an option.
A new group is opening its doors to entrepreneurs and hoping to bring new opportunities to Montgomery.

“We just want to create a community, a village atmosphere to allow the community to come in and work, hang out, collaborate, and start businesses basically launch businesses,” said Adam Warnke.

The new company is called AIRR, co-founded by local Warnke and Austin native James Weddle.
One of the focuses is bringing different skill-sets in the river region together.

“There is so much talent on Maxwell-Gunter, they’re on contracts working there. There’s a ton of talent in the universities, AUM and the surrounding universities, and then with the state. There’s just a ton of talent but they’re doing they’re own separate thing,” said Warnke.

Keeping with the theme of updating the city, the mayor also announced a new plan to bring free public wi-fi to the downtown area.

The Poarch Creek Indians are fronting the cost to put hotspots throughout the city, starting with the biscuits stadium.
Joseph Woollard is with Wize broadband, the company setting up the infrastructure.

“I think it’s huge, especially when people come down and they’re using their data. Data right now is at a premium. You can come down and get on and it’s high speed. It’s going to be wide open,” said Woollard.

The new wi-fi will be rolled out across downtown, starting with a hub at biscuits stadium on April 12. That’s the home opener.
