Father Of Winston’s Law Boy Arrested For Domestic Violence

The father of a 4-year-old boy involved in a high-profile child abuse case in Elmore County has been arrested on charges unrelated to that case, according to court documents.

Joey Crampton allegedly physically assaulted his wife, Leah Crampton, as well as their eight month old baby in their home.

Winston, who the new Winston’s Law is named after, and his two younger siblings were in the home at the time of the alleged incident.

On Thursday Mrs. Crampton reported the incident to the Montgomery Police Department and executed two affidavits at the Montgomery Municipal Court for Domestic Violence which resulted in warrants being issued.

Mr. Crampton was taken to the Montgomery Municipal Jail and was later released after posting bond.

The Autauga County Circuit Court granted Mrs. Crampton temporary custody of Winston. Mrs. Crampton has custody of the younger siblings as well, pending a later hearing.

A restraining order has also been issued.
