pollen2Employees at “Cheatam’s Whips and Cuts Car Wash” on Harrison Road in Montgomery say they have seen a lot of business lately with cars covered with pollen.

“Covered from one end to the other. And really by the time we wash it and get it cleaned up, before they leave the parking lot, it’s covered again,” said Gerald Hall.

While it can be an annoying on the car, if you are one of the many allergy sufferers, this time of year can be particularly tough. Allergist Dr. Allen Meadows says relief is available.

“First and easiest thing to do is an over-the-counter pill. Those are the antihistamine medicines. Typically, my favorite would be an over-the-counter medicine called “Cetirizine,” very inexpensive at the wholesale clubs. The second options would be prescription nose sprays and some of those are over-the-counter as well now. But they take several days to start working,” said Dr. Meadows.

If those do not work for you, Dr. Meadows says it’s a good idea to see an allergist to try to get to the root of the problem.
