There are an average of 117 suicides in the country every single day. It’s a difficult topic to talk about and can be as difficult to spot the warning signs.
That’s the reality for the Wetumpka community that’s pulling together to give back to the community in memory of a middle schooler that took her own life.
Peyton Cox’s family and friends will never have answers for why she took her own life at the age of 13. But this difficult situation is being turned into hope, starting Peyton’s Hope- an initiative to collect and distribute things for the homeless.
Phyllis Carnes, Great Aunt of Peyton said, “You think of anything but suicide as giving people hope..but it really does to me because I hope that anybody that hears or sees this story is going to look at their kids and look at them different, in a more loving and how can I help. There’s nothing too big that you can’t talk to me about.”
