Alabama Man Charged with Promoting Prison Contraband

imageOn Wednesday, March 23, Daquan Denzell Sheely, 20, of Jacksons Gap, Alabama was arrested and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband, 1st degree. Preliminary investigation that Sheely was found to have a handgun in the facility that was recovered after receiving information that he possessed the handgun.

Sheely and two other individuals were arrested on unrelated charges by the Jacksons Gap Police Department and all were transported to our facility by the Jacksons Gap Police Department and the Dadeville Police Department. We routinely contract with other agencies in the County to hold their inmates.

An ongoing investigation is continuing to determine how the weapon was allowed into the facility. The department takes pride in operating the facility in a professional manner to insure the safety of all the inmates housed in our facility. During this incident there were no injuries.

Once the investigation is completed necessary action will be taken to prevent this from happening to our staff and the inmates being housed in our facility.
