Selma Man Charged with Reckless Murder

annmapgreenville.jpgAround 8:30 Wednesday night on Interstate 65 in Greenville, a man was hit and killed by a vehicle.

Troopers say 27-year old Gene Schofield died when a vehicle hit him while on the shoulder. Schofield, a tow truck operator, was assisting another motorist at the time of the crash.

Troopers have charged 36-year old Shawn Davis of Selma, with reckless murder.

Troopers say preliminary investigations show Davis was driving under the influence, and violated the states move over law. The law requires drivers to move over into the far lane while passing emergency vehicles or tow trucks.
