It’s the 8th annual CloverJam at Huntington– A time to gather together, enjoying food and music.

“Huntington really centers itself on bringing in the community, like we are centered in the heart of the Cloverdale District, and we’re really excited about getting them involved,” said event organizer Blake Bosch.

News of Prince’s death was a shock for the students and staff.

“Just hearing about his death yesterday was definitely a tragedy. We were all shocked. I was sitting in my office and I was just shocked because Prince paved the way for a lot of musicians today and his style of music. He was just a pioneer for music today,” said Talyn Sands.

“We actually ended up pausing class playing through a couple of his songs just to appreciate that moment and give that space,” said Micah Wright.

For musicians, it was the loss of someone they looked up to.

“In order to be able to play all those instruments, you have to be extremely talented, which means this guy was an extreme talent and he was a once in a lifetime type of guy. And he will be greatly missed by musicians like me and people I play with,” said Jarred Billups.

That’s why CloverJam organizers wanted to pay tribute to the music legend in a special way.

“We immediately decided we were going to put ‘Purple Rain’ in the set tonight just because Prince was so iconic. He did not only do stuff for Pop music, but for all music. He was such an incredible musician. He was one of the most underrated guitar players ever,” said musician and Chaplain Woods Lisenby.
