Supporters of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore say they plan to rally to support his stance on same-sex marriage that’s led to him potentially losing his job.
Right now, Moore is suspended with pay while awaiting trial. This is all because of charges filed by the Judicial Inquiry Commission, accusing Moore of ethics violations for opposing same-sex marriage. The complaints say he told state probate judges to enforce the state’s ban on same sex marriage, despite the U-S Supreme’s court paving the way for legal same-sex marriages. The supporters today say Moore did nothing wrong.
Suzelle Josey, friend of Moore’s said, “He will not shut up and like Daniel he will not go away. And the people of Alabama elected him in 2003 to stand for them and then elected him again in 2012 to stand for us and the JIC has absolutely no business thwarting the will of the people in the state of Alabama.”
That rally will be held next Saturday at 11 a.m. at the judicial building.
