Valley Grande Man Convicted of Child Abuse

Jonathan Wilson of Valley Grande, Alabama has been convicted of child abuse.

Wilson and his wife Tessie were arrested in 2014 and charged with aggravated abuse.

Dallas County Authorities say the couple abused an 11-year-old girl.

Investigators say the victim was the couple’s niece — who had been placed in their care about a year ago before they were arrested. They say the abuse was punishment for the child not doing chores to the couple’s satisfaction.

“She was made to do push-ups and sit-ups for approximately two hours and every time she would stop or was no longer able to go, she was abused and when I say abused I mean severely abused,” said Dallas Co. Sheriff’s Investigator, Mike Granthum.

“She actually had raw flesh hanging from her skin, open wounds, sore to the back side of her legs and to her buttocks area.”

Wilson will be sentenced in a few months following a pre-sentence investigation and report.
