AU’s Joshua Palacios drafted in 4th round by Toronto
AUBURN, Ala. (auburntigers.com) – Junior outfielder Joshua Palacios was drafted in the fourth round (No. 132 overall) by the Toronto Blue Jays during the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Palacios batted .385 in 34 games in his lone season on the Plains after transferring from San Jacinto College. He drove in 23 runs with five homers, nine doubles and four triples. Palacios also added 12 stolen bases and seven outfield assists.
Palacios was previously selected in the 31st round by Cincinnati in 2014.
With the selections of Palacios on Friday, Auburn has now had multiple players drafted every year since 2006. Following Anfernee Grier’s first round selection and Palacios being drafted in the fourth round, Auburn has now recorded its highest drafted pair of outfielders in program history.
