Pike County Residents Petition Against Restaurant’s Beer and Wine Proposal

Members of a Pike County church are voicing their concerns over a new business coming near them.

Smoking Skillet Cafe on Highway 231 in Brundidge is awaiting the county commissions vote on a retail beer and wine license. Members of the Hamilton Crossroads Church of Christ say their main concern is safety for not only people at the church but also for others living in the community.

“We have not intentions of turning this into a roadhouse or any type of drinking house for the public,” says Andrew Clark, Co-owner of Smokin’ Skillet Cafe. Right now, members of the church oar forming a petition against the restaurant’s proposal.

“You couple liquor being able to be consumed on the premises and then taken off that’s where we have more difficulty with the business,” says David Miles.”

Church members say they plan to present their petition at the next commission meeting on Monday.
