Local Residents React After Recent Officer Shootings

Many people across the nation voicing their concerns on the recent officer-involved shootings.

Alton Sterling was shot at a baton rouge convenience store pinned down by police officers. Philandro Castile was shot during a routine traffic stop in St. Paul Minnesota. Troy police say in these cases it’s important to be prepared that’s why they always use body cameras.

“You never know what’s going to happen. you never know during a traffic stop what you’re going to face, what events you’re going to run up on,” Chief Randall Barr of the Troy Police Department.

“If the suspect or the person is respectful then it goes both ways. the officer ought to do likewise,” says Ernest Green of Troy.

The U.S justice Department’s Civil Rights Division is also investigating the Alton sterling shooting in Baton Rouge.
