Union Springs Authorities Investigating Fatal Shooting
Union Springs Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead and another in custody.
Police say Johnny Womack Jr. is in custody or a shooting on Peachburg road, near Highway 82 in Union Springs. Officers arrived to the scene around 3 am Saturday to find Mario Martin shot in his right rib cage. He was was taken to the Bullock County Hospital where he later died. Womack turned himself in to the Union Springs Police Department.
“The information that we’ve got so far is they were involved in some type of gambling game and there was an altercation stemming from there,” says Union Springs Police Chief Danny Jackson.
Womack is in the Macon County Jail. Officers are still investigating the shooting.
