MANE Holds Horse Naming Contest
The Frazier Pike Road Church community came out for Movie night at MANE and to help name a new horse.
She’s a Gypsy Vanner horse that is drawing lots of attention these days.
“Her mane feels like messy human hair,” said second grader Hannah Xu.
The mare, originally from the UK has been in Pike Road for a month now. And now she is getting a name with a special contest.
“We’ve created this contest everybody can put in a name. It’s a dollar a name, and you can put multiples of the same name or you can put all different kinds of names. We’ve gotten everybody involved because the community helped us win the horse and the community can help name her,” said Equine Director Chandalyn Chrzanowski.
And kids have all kinds of ideas for a name. Like, “Black Star,” “Hairy,” “Angel”, and Trinity.”
Bella Posey says, “I’d name this horse “Starla” because it’s just a very pretty horse and stars are pretty, so I think its the perfect name.”
The name contest is also helping MANE.
“What we have done is also make a fundraiser out of it to help pay for her training because she is not broke and also pay for her tact for when she comes a horse in our lessons,” said Chrzanowski.
After they put in their names, and after much petting and anticipation, it was soon time for the big reveal.
Several names were drawn out.
The MANE staff narrowed it down to two for the audience to decide.
“Corrine” and “Swoopes.” The audience chose “Swoopes” as the new name.
