Troy University Students Participate in Historic Archaeological Dig
Five Troy University students experienced what they call, a once in a lifetime experience in Ashkelon, Israel.
Students were part of a historic archaeological excavation for 6-weeks this summer. They were able to help uncover a Philistine cemetery along with people from Harvard University, Boston College and Wheaton College. The cemetery held over 200 human remains. Troy student, Savanna Moore says the excavation was enlightening.
“Once you’re able to step back and and view the burials and the burial chambers-the massive burial chamber that was we found and the objects they were buried with you kind of realize that these things have not seen the light of day in almost 3-thousand years and that’s amazing,” says Moore.
