Nightclub shooting safety

With recent shootings at nightclubs across the country, many people are wondering what they should do if they are in a nightclub during a shooting.

Lieutenant Randy Pollard with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office teaches an active shooter training class called Run, Hide, Fight. He says that during these types of situations it is important to stay calm.

“It may take you a second to even realize where the shots are coming from,” he explained, “so what you don’t want to do is just run without a thought process because you could actually run into the problem, not away from it.”

He also said that during active shooting situations you should think of yourself first.

“You save yourself first, but you can try to take as many people with you as you possibly can,” he explained.
