Summer break is winding down for many Alabama students and one organization wants to make sure kids and parents get back into their routine.

The Waker Foundation-a non profit organization plans to unite the community with a back to school event in downtown Troy. Joseph Waker Jr., the founder of the group says the event builds a positive environment.
It will consists of several outdoor activities and also address important issues youth may face.

“We wanted to bridge the gap with the whole spectrum from education, job training, health and wellness, to homelessness,” says Joseph Waker Jr. of the Waker Foundation.

The foundation’s free back to school event kicks off on Friday, August 5th at 6 pm on the square in downtown Troy. It lasts until August 7th.
