Fundraiser Underway for Wilcox Co. Families without Running Water
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
A Selma woman teams up with a Selma business to collect water for families living without water in Wilcox County.
Stephanie Walters and the folks at the Selma Cash Saver are conducting a water drive.
They say donations are being taken all week at the store during normal business hours.
Walters said she decided to coordinate the drive after seeing a story featuring one of the families on Alabama News Network.
“When I saw the the story air, the little children, some wasn’t big enough to walk but they was carrying a milk jug and they was turning on this faucet out in the middle of the, look like the woods somewhere, to fill the jugs up with water to take back to they’re house,” said Walters.
“I thought to myself I say that could be some of my children, some of my grandchildren, that could even be my family.”
They plan to deliver the water to Wilcox County this coming Friday.
