National Night Out is a national campaign to build partnerships between neighborhoods and police to make communities safer.

The Normandale neighborhood participated and their message was simple.

“Bringing awareness to crime,” said Elva Harris, “and help stomp out, stamp out crime, let people know that there are a lot of things that we can do to be preventive in being attacked or victims of crimes.”

Law enforcement, Firefighters and representatives from the District Attorney’s office also attended the event and answered questions from residents.

National Night Out is an annual event that takes place the first Tuesday of August.
