Alabama BOE Interview Finalists for New State Superintendent
The Alabama Board of Education is interviewing six finalists in the search for a new state school superintendent.
The board scheduled a day of interviews Thursday for the candidates, who are seeking to replace retired state school superintendent Tommy Bice.
Board members will select a new superintendent during a meeting on Aug. 11.
The state superintendent oversees an agency with nearly 900 employees. The finalists include:
- Stanford University Research Fellow- Williamson Evers
- Madison School Superintendent-Dee Fowler
- Jefferson County Superintendent- Craig Pouncey
- Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education Secretary- Jenna Ross
- Education Consultant- Michael Sentence
- Florence City School Superintendent- Janet Womack.
