World Horseshoe Pitching Tournament Wrap-Up
The World Horseshoe Pitching Championship wraps up the River Region.
This year’s tournament featured over 900 pitchers, representing 44 states. Hundreds of spectators visited Montgomery to watch the games for the past 2 weeks. For many it was there first time visiting the capitol city. They say they enjoyed not only the tournament but also the southern hospitality from people in the area.
“Surprisingly I really enjoyed it. It was nice. We stayed down at the embassy suites with restaurants and stuff, there was good walking distance. Really nice. You feel safe,” says Allen Withrow.
In addition to trophies in each division of the competition, winners also took home over $4,000.
