Auburn Volleyball slotted seventh in SEC preseason poll

AUBURN, Ala. (auburntigers.com) – The Auburn volleyball team was chosen to finish seventh in the Southeastern Conference in this season’s preseason coaches’ poll, the league announced Wednesday.

The Tigers return all six starters plus libero from the 2015 team that concluded the year sixth in the SEC with a 10-8 conference record. Auburn finished the season with an 18-12 overall mark, including an 11-3 record at home in Auburn Arena.

Auburn totaled 84 points in the poll taken by the SEC’s 13 head coaches. Defending conference champion Texas A&M was picked first, while NCAA Elite Eight participant Florida was closely behind in second. Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas and Alabama rounded out the top six. LSU, Tennessee, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Georgia completed the poll.

The Tigers open the 2016 season, Aug. 26-27, hosting the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn Arena. Auburn will take on Georgia Tech to open the weekend with a 7 p.m. CT match and follows with a pair of matches vs. Furman and Pacific Saturday, Aug. 27.
