Stolen family sign returned to owner
A neighborhood landmark that was stolen out of a man’s front yard in late July was returned last Saturday.
The Outlaw family sign had stood in 84-year-old Carlos Outlaw’s front yard for forty-five years before it was stolen. Outlaw’s late brother made the sign out of a piece of timber found in a mill pond near their childhood home.
Outlaw says he is glad to have the sign back.
“Well I’m real proud to get my sign back,” he shared, “as far as the people that took it, that’s between them and the Lord.”
After our first story aired a woman came forward who knew the man who stole the sign. With her help Outlaw was able to get the sign back.
“I knew who did it,” she explained, “so if there was any way that I could get it back I promised him that I would get it back for him.”
Outlaw says if the case goes to court he will drop the charges.
