Troy University Introduces Unmanned Aerial Systems Courses
There are new regulations for drone use from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The changes come as troy university introduces a new course for its students. The university now offers unmanned aerial systems courses online. It’s designed for students to learn the mechanics of drones for research and business. New rules from the FAA defines who can operate drones weighing 55-pounds or less in the national airspace system. University officials say the new courses on drone management are a chance for students to prepare for billion dollar job industry.
“They’ll be able to make good decisions and they’ll be very, very valuable to companies when they employ drone operators,” says Adjunct Professor Al Allenback.
Troy is the only 4 year school in Alabama that offers UAS courses right now.
