Montgomery hoarder asks for help
A local church is asking for community support to help a family with a hoarding problem in Montgomery.
Juanita Woods and her husband had custody of their 17-year-old granddaughter until last week when the Department of Human Resources deemed their house unsafe because of the hoarding.
“They came over here last Wednesday at almost midnight and snatched her out of here like I was choking her or doing some literal harm,” she shared.
Psychiatrists say that hoarding is an anxiety disorder that can lead to serious health problems in some cases.
Rhonda Moorer, of Ark of Safety Baptist Church, is a friend of the family who is trying to help them get out of the situation.
“We want to reach out to anybody and everybody else in the community who’s willing to come and help us out,” she explained.
If you would like to help the Woods, contact Ark of Safety Baptist Church at 334-834-6048.
