Several Shootings In Selma Leave One Dead, Suspect Arrested

Selma Police have arrested a man involved in a shooting Saturday morning.

Ronald Johnson, age 27, was arrested and charged with  murder in a shooting that happened in the 1200 Block of Alabama Ave.

Selma Police say several men got into an argument that escalated into the subjects pulling out guns. That’s when they started shooting at each other on Alabama Ave. between Washington St. and Franklin St.

During the shooting between several individuals, a 33-year-old man was shot and killed. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Johnson is being held in the Dallas County Jail with no bond.

Another shooting happened near Ford’s Grocery on Weaver St. A 21-year-old female was shot and admitted to the Vaughn Hospital for treatment.

The third shooting happened near Franklin and Green Street. Authorities say a 55-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the body.

He was taken to the Vaughn ER and later airlifted to Tuscaloosa.
