Christian voters weigh in on presidential race
The first presidential debate has a lot of voters talking, but it might not be the publicity candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump want. Both brought up past discrepancies, including Clinton’s email scandal and her husband’s infidelity. Clinton reminded voters of Trump’s controversial financial history and his comments on women that many voters consider derogatory.
Both sides are claiming victory, but the voters who were hoping for a candidate with more Christian values were disappointed.
“I’ve not really noticed that either of them seem to be Christ-centered, about, truly about what God has planned for America,” said Christian Evelyn Causey.
“They’ll say one thing one day and something else another. So… I guess the truth will come out in the end,” added another church member, Walter Cartwright.
The Christian voters also said they don’t believe either candidate showed the public they can lead the country in a Godly direction.
“I think each candidate should express more Christian values towards their stances on everything,” said young voter Hunter Craig. “I think what we need is a strong Christian leader in this country.”
Regardless of who wins the November election and becomes America’s next president, these voters are hoping the person in office will put the country back on track.
“It’s going to be tough either way,” added Cartwright. “Regardless of who wins. We’ve gotten this country in such a big hole, financially and spiritually. And without God we can’t return back to be the great country that we always have been.”
The candidates will face off for the second debate on October 9th in St. Louis.
