Troy University Student killed In Off Campus Shooting
Troy Police are investigating a shooting they say led to the death of a Troy University Student.
Police say the shooting occurred off campus in the 300 block of Jane Road.
Police say the victim is 20-year-old Michael Derek Kennedy. Police say it appears a homeowner answered a knock on his door shortly before three 3:30 a.m. Friday. They say two men were outside and that Kennedy was one of them, and was armed with a gun.
The homeowner fired several times, striking Kennedy in the chest.
The university is providing counseling for students.
